えきから、うちまで、にじかんかかります。

から and まで mean from (から) and to/till (まで) and translate quite well to English. Please note as they are particles you do not need another particle before the verb.

It can refer to time (from 6pm-7pm) or place (from my house to the library).

九時から、十時まで食べます。

From 9 to 10 I eat.

金曜日から日曜日までしごとがあります。

From Friday to Sunday, I have work.

Or

学校からとしょかんまで二十分かかります。

From school to the Library, it takes 20 minutes.

Do not do any of the following:

九時にから十じにまでをたべます。

学校からとしょかんまで二十分にかかります。

The と particle can also be used to say you are doing an activity with somebody.

と　= And/With

ラメンととんかつおねがいします。

Please give me ramen and tonkatsu.

お母さんとかんこくの映画を見ます。

With my mum, I watch a Korean movie.

毎朝、かぞくと朝ごはんを食べます。

Every Morning, I eat breakfast with my family.

Notice how there is no subject, as its assumed that you are the subject in these sentences.

一人で/Alone:

一人で.. to do something alone.

Note that the で Particle is in use here!

一人　can also mean 1 person, rather than just the connotation of being ‘Alone’.

• 今日、一人で学校に行きます。友達がありません。

• Today, I went to school alone. I don’t have friends.
